Pulled pork is one of those life changing meals. You might not think so but it completely changes the game for they types of things you grill, smoke and eat. So many people barbecue ribs from here to sundown but have probably never ever had a change to make pulled pork. Once you try the process you'll wonder why it took so long. In this recipe we use pork loin and not the traditional pork shoulder. We do that because of the timeframe we need to make the pork. With the loin you can make this dish in about 4 to 5 hours as opposed to pork shoulder or pork butt in which you'd want to cook or smoke them for about 10 hours.
For this recipe we will give you a bonus recipe. Our Bourbon BBQ Glaze is excellent for this meat. You will use that in place of the Mild or Medium Hot BBQ Sauce.
Bourbon Glaze Ingredients:
Options To Bourbon flavor:
In place of Jake's Famous Maple Bourbon BBQ Sauce you can use 3/4 Cup Bourbon (**Inexpensive is fine and as an option you can substitute something else with similar flavoring if desired) or Vanilla Extract or Almond Extract.
With the Bourbon Glaze when you've cooked it and allowed it to reduce down to a syrupy consistency you will let it rest for about 30 minutes to mature the sauce. You will then pour it into the crockpot over the pork loin and allow the sauce the steep into the meat for the 4-5 hours. Once done you'll allow the meat to rest for about 15 minutes then take the meat out place it on a large place and use two forks to pull it apart shredding the meat. Take segments of the meat and add to buns and cover with additional Mild, Medium Hot or Bourbon Glaze and serve.
