A truly simple appetizer made with Marinated Meatballs and Cocktail Weiners. BBQ Marinated Meatballs and Cocktail Weiners make a fantastic appetizer that everyone loves.

Ingredients Marinated Meatballs and Cocktail Wieners Recipe:

  • Precooked Turkey Meatballs
  • Precooked package of Cocktail Weiners
  • 18 Ounces of Jakes Famous Really Good Mild BBQ Sauce
  • 1 Crockpot with at least a 4 quart volume

Instructions:

If needed thaw meatballs to room temperature.  Drain any excess water from the bag.  Pour 18 ounces of Jake's Original Mild BBQ Sauce into the Crock Pot and turn to high for at least 30 minutes.  While BBQ Sauce is warming the meatballs are thawing to room temperature. If needed thaw Cocktails Weiners at the same time as the meatballs.

Pour meatballs and cocktail weiners into warmed BBQ Sauce and stir in covering both completely.

Let meatballs  and cocktail weiners cook in the Crock Pot for 45 minutes until BBQ Sauce is completely marinated into each.  Reduce temperature to Medium for 5 minutes.  Serve.  The remaining BBQ Sauce can be served as a separate dipping dish after it has been warmed for two minutes.

The BBQ Sauce completely permeates the meatballs and cocktail weiners.

This is a truly fantastic appetizer or dinner meal.

This is a recipe we created on the "fly". We say fly because we are busy just like everyone else and in between running the company and managing personal affairs there's not much time to make dinner or practically any other meal.  We thought what could we do not only for us but for our customers that would be easy and fun.  I mentioned using our sauces and we talked about the types of meats that work best for demonstrations.  We centered on using chicken for many of our demos but found that after about a hour or so of use in the crockpot the meat becomes somewhat mushy.  We tried all types of chicken but each time the meat got soggy.  We then tried using cocktail weiners and those types of small sausages.  We found that the longer the weiners marinate in the sauce the more the flavor is absorbed in the weiners.

The best thing about the cocktail weiners is that when doing demonstrations the meat is already portioned so you only have to give out one per person.  With meatballs they will need to be sliced beforehand and allowed to steep in the sauce.  As great as meatballs are they can with time become soggy and mushy.  That of course is where weiners come in and become a great option.

One of the options we've told our customers about is making the wieners spicy.  We offer the purchase of our Medium Hot or Really Hot barbecue sauce to build spiciness and flavor for the cocktail weiners.  Our Medium and Really Hot utilize habanero, and jalapeno in the sauce and each delivers a unique spiciness.  If you find the spiciness is too much you can always blend down the spiciness by adding some of the Really Good Mild Barbecue Sauce.
