An easy way to create a sumptuous and distinctive gourmet appetizer with Maple Bourbon Meatballs that rivals any on your recipe list.
Made with very simple ingredients that can be collected from just about any store or market and only requires the joining of Jake's Maple Bourbon Marinade.
- Step 1: Pour the contents of Jake's Famous Maple Bourbon Marinade into a container.
- Step 2: Pour the Meatballs into a pot large enough to contain the meatballs and marinade.
- Step 3: Place the pot onto the stove and turn the stove on to simmer. Allow the meatballs to simmer in the marinade for 45 to an hour. If meatballs are frozen allow them to thaw for at least 30 minutes before joining with the marinade.
- Step 4: Remove meatballs from the liquid. The liquid can be used as aus jus if desired.
- Serve with garlic mashed potatoes or Caesar salad. Meatballs can also be served Swedish style if desired**.
**Swedish Style is add the combination of onions, beefstock, olive oil and dill to create flavor then adding a skewer to each meatball for easy gathering.
This Maple Bourbon meatball meal is one that was driven off our standing Meatballs in Barbecue Sauce recipe. In our meatball recipe we use our Really Good Mild Barbecue sauce and marinated the turkey based meatballs in the sauce. The meatballs were left standing for about 30 minutes then served. We noted that turkey meatballs can be quite large so we sliced the frozen meatballs first then placed them in the sauce.
For the Maple Bourbon Meatballs we use our Jake's Famous Maple Bourbon BBQ Sauce and fill a small crock pot to about half way with the sauce. The meatballs are then submerged in the sauce and allowed to marinate and warm in the sauce for about 30 minutes on Medium.
We use the Maple Bourbon Barbecue Sauce because it carries distinct warm flavors of Maple Syrup and Bourbon Whiskey although the flavors are just that natural flavors and not actual alcohol related liquids. We find that those same warm flavors are imparted deeply within the meatballs to produce a truly appetizing flavor and the feel of warmth and satisfaction in the taste.
I've used this Maple Bourbon Meatball recipe over many, many barbecues for my customers and clients. We were doing a large scale sampling in San Francisco one day at a very popular Bread business near the warf. We pulled out the Maple Bourbon BBQ Sauce and the meatballs and the aromas of Maple and Bourbon filled the air. There was a noticeable uptick in the activity and the purchase of breads and meats during the time we were there. The managers came over to tell us how the entire atmosphere changed once the BBQ Sauce began to heat up. The crowds on the streets spilled into the shop and the lines for samples ran about 50 persons deep. We were fortunate to bring at least 250 samples which needless to say flew out of the store.
