Juicy Grilled Pork Chops How long do I grill

Making Juicy Pork Chops on the Grill

Pork Chops are excellent for grilling. Our steps here teach you how long to grill pork chops every time.

Steps:

When chops are seasoned let them come to room temperature for no more than five minutes. If chops need to thawed before cooking make sure that is done in the refrigerator overnight especially if frozen.

1. Choose your grill pork chops, boneless or with bone, that are about one inch thick. If you can't find them in your market buy a pork loin or tenderloin and slice it into pieces one inch thick.

2. Marinate chops with 1/2 Cup Jake's Maple Bourbon BBQ Sauce, 1/4 Cup Apple Juice, and 2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar Marinade for 1-2 hours.

3. Preheat the grill to medium.

4. Grill the chops, turning every few minutes and rotating as needed on your grill. Cook following the temperature chart below.

Be careful not to overcook. Many people are still concerned about parasites with under-cooked pork, but because of years of breeding they are virtually gone and pork is now so lean it is far more likely to overcook than anything else.

Let pork chops rest on a foil-covered platter for five minutes before serving.

Serve.

Overall grill pork chops are realistically pork meat just like ribs or ham or any other pork related product.  There need not be any fear about cooking or grilling pork chops.  You of course should consider where the chops come from meaning where at on the pig.  Also keep in mind chops can be quite dense and as a result may end up dry when cooked.  We set out a basic marinade or brine we like to use.  If we can't use the above brine then we'll opt for the injection method.  You don't need some fancy injector just a bargain basement type the move liquid through a small tube into the meat.  No matter which way you get liquid into the meat you will need to leave the meat to sit for a considerable period.  We like marinating our chops for not less than 8 hours.  Having the marinade in this long will 100% ensure that you meat will not be dry unless of course you overcook the meat in the process.

Now with your chops marinated next comes ensuring that they are cooked properly.  We've suggested above that the chops be cooked on medium.  Now of course this assumes you want to truly create some tender meat.  But for those who don't have a lot of time on their hands cooking the chops at a higher temperature for a shorter period of time is acceptable.  Keep in mind the goal here is to ensure that the chops will complete at just the right temperature.  And for the record the minimums below are FDA related numbers.  We however, will never cook our pork below 155 degrees, we instead prefer to maintain in the safe zone around 175 degrees.

So, oil up your grill, ensure you chops have marinated properly then get them on the grill and enjoy the results.  We should of course tell you that we almost always use our Tri-Tip, Steak and Rib Rub on the grill pork chops as the step after marinating.  The dry rub provide a nice brown sugar, smoked salt formula and is perfect for ribs and steaks.
