Two competition award winning dry rubs, our Southwestern Hickory Rub and Tri-Tip, Steak and Rib Rub.

Jake's Famous Tri Tip Steak and Rib Dry Rub a multi-contest award-winner for steaks, tri-tip, bbq ribs and chicken and is the result of 2 years of continuous development.  We set a high bar when we set out to create a steak rub that captured the flavor of the well know Santa Maria region famous for Tri Tip.  The results of our efforts was to create an amazingly flavorful Tri Tip Steak and Rib Dry Rub  seasoning.  We live in the Santa Mara / San Luis Obispo region and we decided to find out what typifies the make up of a true Western region steak.  And by that we wanted to learn cuts of meat, styles of cooking, seasonings and spices used and when the experts considered the best time to cook a steak.  We traveled to all over the United States from California to New York searching out the best ways to cook, grill and barbecue steak from the experts.  The experts believe in sparingly seasoning their steaks with simple amounts of salt and pepper.  However when they want to pick up the flavor of a steak they look to create a taste experience for their guests.  Some will season with garlic, pepper and salt, while some will season with a sprinkle of kosher salt combined with paprika and onion powder backed by black pepper and so on.  One thing they all agree on is, there really is no one way to season a steak.  With that in mind we began building the best steak seasoning we could then we married that with the simple essence of tri-tip rubs.  When we felt we achieved a substantial product we then set out to focus on ribs and the flavors that make them so memorable.  After a few hundred blends of spices and seasonings we finally did it.  We created a Dry rub so compelling that it is now in use auspiciously through the Western region to flavor steaks, ribs, and Tri Tip smoked in some off the best grocery delicatessen and meat markets.

Jake's Famous Santa Barbara Smoked Seafood Dry Rub gives Salmon, BBQ Catfish, Talapia grill, swordfish grill, Chilean Sea Bass, Mahi-Mahi BBQ and almost every other kind of fish and unexpected jolt of flavor. This rub is so versatile it can be used the make the most succulent slow cooked ribs you've ever had. Natural herbs and spices combine in a savory blend with a hint of maple sugar, cayenne, chili powder, garlic, onions, smoked salt and more to permeate fish and meats, reaching deep into the hard to reach recesses of fibers, turning them into well-seasoned and highly sought after world class dishes.

This is the 2nd in our series of dry rubs. Dry Rubs are designed to delivered powder and granule spices mixing with the moisture of meat being drawn into the fiber in a form similar to capillary action. As the moisture dries the spices are absorbed deeper into the meat acting to marinate the meat and impart flavor. Spices are easy to use and store for longer periods in more places than sauces.

Want to make bbq ribs but you don't have access to a grill?  Jake's Famous Tri Tip, Steak and Rib Rub for ribs be it baby back ribs, beef ribs, or other ribs our dry rub will do a fantastic job in the oven.  Ribs will finish with a nicely caramelized finish.  The process is simple and included here.  Select the ribs of your choice along with Jake's Famous Tri Tip, Steak and Rib Rub.  For maximum flavor it's a good idea to clean and trim your ribs where possible.  The best way to do this is after the ribs have been properly cleaned and patted dry take a paper towel and grasp an edge of the silver membrane starting at the top of the ribs.  By grasping an edge and pulling toward the other end of the meat you'll start to see the membrane separate from the meat.  Once the membrane is removed add the seasoning by rubbing generously followed by wrapping in foil.  Let the ribs rest in the foil for about an hour.  Set your oven to 350 degrees.  While the oven is reaching temperature set the ribs on the counter so that they come to room temperature.  Place the ribs in foil in a metal baking pan.  Cook for two hours and remove from the oven.  Open just the top of the foil and lather on your choice of Jake's Famous BBQ Sauce for Baby Back Ribs covering both sides.  After the sauce is applied leave the ribs on the meat side up with the foil open.  Turn the oven to 400 degrees and cook for approximately 15 to 20 minutes at 400 degrees.  Once done remove the ribs and cover allowing the ribs to rest for about 30 minutes.  Keep some extra Jake's BBQ Sauce on the side in a warmed dish then serve and enjoy.  Add coleslaw, corn on the cob and baked potatoes will really make this meal stand up.

These rubs work wonders for Salmon, Baby Back Ribs, New York Steaks, Tri-Tip, Lamb, Chicken, Gourmet Blue Cheese Hamburgers, golden french fries, baked potatoes wrapped in bacon and more.
