Jake's Famous Foods Tri Tip Steak and Rib Rub a multi-contest award-winner for steaks, tri-tip, bbq ribs and chicken and is the result of 2 years of continuous development. We set a high bar in our efforts to produce a qualified, best of show steak dry rub that blends together all the necessary ingredients that define a meat rub into one all emcompassing package and style from the Santa Maria region where Tri Tip if famous. The results of our efforts was to create an amazingly flavorful Tri Tip Steak and Rib Dry Rub seasoning. We live in the Santa Mara / San Luis Obispo region and traveled the broad spectrum of barbecues and festivals in our attempt to determine what makes Tri Tip and Tri Tip rubs such Western region steak favorites. As we focused specifically on different cuts of meat, we also took time our to ground ourselves in styles of cooking, along with spices and what some of the experts are known for when they develop and present their best effort steak seasonings. Our travels took us all over the United States from California to New York searching out the best ways to cook, grill and barbecue steak from the experts.
Many chefs tell their customers to season their steaks lightly with simple salt and pepper. If they believe that steaks need any seasonings at all they spend their time creating some culinary delights to creat a new experience for their guests. We found that a limited few use some forms of garlic, while predominantly most use pepper and salt, still others season with kosher salt, paprika to aid in the browned appearance of the steak. Of course copious amounts of onion powder backed by black pepper are studiously use to round out the flavor of the steak. They tend to agree that there really is no one way to season a steak. Once we settled on the basics we began laying out the course of our efforts for the best steak seasoning when paired with the simple stylings of tri-tip rubs. When we felt we achieved a substantial product our attentions turned to ribs and the awesome taste and flavors that make them a mainstay. After continuous testings of we believe we had created our new product but we couldn't be completely sure without an appropriate amount of market testing. We created a Dry rub that is focused and savory yet with hints brown sugar and chili powder to deliver the ultimate in Western region flavor.

This is the 2nd in our series of dry rubs. Dry Rubs are designed to delivered powder and granule spices mixing with the moisture of meat being drawn into the fiber in a form similar to capillary action. As the moisture dries the spices are absorbed deeper into the meat acting to marinate the meat and impart flavor. Spices are easy to use and store for longer periods in more places than sauces.

Jake's Famous Tri Tip, Steak and Rib Rub for ribs be it baby back ribs, beef ribs, or other ribs our dry rub will do a fantastic job in the oven. Ribs will finish with a nicely caramelized finish. The process is simple and included here. Select the ribs of your choice along with Jake's Famous Dry Rub for sale Tri Tip, Steak and Rib Rub. For maximum flavor it's a good idea to clean and trim your ribs where possible. The best way to do this is after the ribs have been properly cleaned and patted dry take a paper towel and grasp an edge of the silver membrane starting at the top of the ribs. By grasping an edge and pulling toward the other end of the meat you'll start to see the membrane separate from the meat. Once the membrane is removed add the seasoning by rubbing generously followed by wrapping in foil. Let the ribs rest in the foil for about an hour. Set your oven to 350 degrees.
While the oven is reaching temperature set the ribs on the counter so that they come to room temperature. Place the ribs in foil in a metal baking pan. Cook for two hours and remove from the oven. Open just the top of the foil and lather on your choice of Jake's Famous BBQ Sauce for Baby Back Ribs covering both sides. After the sauce is applied leave the ribs on the meat side up with the foil open. Turn the oven to 400 degrees and cook for approximately 15 to 20 minutes at 400 degrees. Once done remove the ribs and cover allowing the ribs to rest for about 30 minutes. Keep some extra Jake's BBQ Sauce on the side in a warmed dish then serve and enjoy. Add coleslaw, corn on the cob and baked potatoes will really make this meal stand up.
