Mango Habanero BBQ Sauce Recipe Homemade Taste

Mango Habanero BBQ Sauce Recipe Homemade Taste

Mangoes and Habaneros are the perfect compliment of heat and sweet combined with savory BBQ Sauce.

Here's our very own homemade recipe for the asking.

To make this recipe simple we first start with the great taste of a bottle of Jake's Really Nice Medium Hot BBQ Sauce. If you want to make it super hot then grab a jar of Jake's Really Hot "Spicy" BBQ Sauce. Each sauce is savory and contains just the right amount of Habanero, Jalapeno and our very special select ginger added to level the double impact of the Habanero and Jalapeno. Since this is a homemade bbq sauce recipe you'll need the following ingredients to complete the task:

Ingredients for Mango Habanero BBQ Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 1 small Spanish onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled, pitted and coarsely chopped
  • 1 habanero, chopped
  • 1 cup white wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon table Salt

Heat oil in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, mangoes, habanero and vinegar and cook over low heat for 15 to 20 minutes. Place the mixture in a blender and blend until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add a few tablespoons of warm water or vinegar. Season with table salt.

Once the Mango Habanero BBQ Sauce  is ready combine with 1- 12 Ounce bottle of Jake's Medum Hot BBQ Sauce or Jake's Really Hot BBQ Sauce. Cook the combination over medium heat for 15 - 20 minutes until the flavors meld. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to rest for at least a half and hour, this will aid in the maturing of the recipe. If you have time the recipe can be made a day in advance and cooled in the refrigerator to mature the flavors even more.

Once the Mango Habanero BBQ Sauce recipe is rested you can serve with your favorite meat or place in a container to re-warm for table side serving.

Enjoy.

My competition team enjoys the use of Habaneros in our barbecue sauce, especially in the Really Nice Medium Hot Barbecue Sauce.  I on the other hand enjoy making the sauce formulations and developing the recipes however, I am not much for hot products.  The team enjoys heat so much that they spend time creating minor contests between team members requiring them to eat hotter and hotter products things like Ghost peppers and more.  I've learned over the years to know your limits and while I enjoy some warm foods spice wise I've also learned that I do not eat them past 2 PM.  I don't enjoy dealing with the after effects long into the night as my tolerance for spice has diminished over the year.

Recently while on a demo journey my team took to challenging some of the attendees at the actual event.  I cautioned about this and set out a strict set of rules on when someone could actually sample the products.  The keys were do they enjoy spicy food, how many times a month do they eat spicy foods, one or three times does not count.  If they say weekly then they move to the next level and are suitable for sample.  Those who ask me how hot something usually gets the response "how many times a month do you enjoy spicy foods".  This basically weeds out the posers and those who just want to go around sampling without any consideration for purchase.  We want to sample but the public must remember we are not Costco or some other store that hands out samples all day without regard for the purchase.

This Mango and Habanero recipe although I can not enjoy a lot of it I enjoy.  I find that the combination of ingredients and blends of Habanero and barbecue sauce produces a wonderful flavor and nice amount of heat on the palate.  I usually take one or two bites and that's enough for me.  If you enjoy spicy foods I believe you owe yourself and opportunity to try this recipe.
