  • 2/3 C Ketchup
  • 1/2 C Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 C Fresh Orange Juice
  • 1/2 C Maple Syrup
  • 1/3 C Dark Un-sulphured Molasses
  • 2 T Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 t Freshly Ground Black Pepper

**Suitable Bourbon substitutes include: There are a number of options for alcoholic substitutes, we are presenting just a few like vanilla extract, sparkling wines, Sparkling apple cider; sparkling cranberry juice; or sparkling grape juice. For this recipe sparking apple cider or vanilla extract works best.

Steps:

1. In a large saucepan melt the butter with the oil over medium heat.

2. Add the Onions and sauté for 5 minutes, cooking until they begin to turn golden.

3. Add remaining ingredients into the sauce pan; reduce heat to low and cook until mixture thickens about 45 minutes or so, stirring frequently.

When complete you can spoon directly on your meat. You can glaze more than once if you choose. After the second glazing return the glaze mixture to the stove and simmer for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until the glaze gets sticky.

Serve with the meat on the dinner table.

Raspberry Bourbon Glaze Concentrated

I've used the base recipe to make our Bourbon Glazed sauce and marinade.  This recipes takes into account the use of simple raspberry jelly or standard raspberries to heighten the flavor the glaze.  Raspberries as you may not are an excellent tenderizer much like vinegar and lime juice along with pineapple and other fruit related juices.  The raspberry combination is perfect for making the glaze.  Keep in mind that using a raspberry jelly in place of the raspberries is not quite the same.  You must check to ensure that the raspberry jelly has a fairly high concentration of raspberries otherwise you'll be adding mostly sugar and water in place of flavor.  Natural Raspberries are 100 times better but as is consistent with natural not all raspberries have the same flavor content.  So, it's best to ensure the raspberries are ripe and to ensure you have on hand more than you need just in case you notice the intensity of flavor is not at the level you desire.  You can always add more raspberries.

**For best results and to achieve the peak of flavor always use Jake's Famous Barbecue Sauce.
